'Pound-for-pound' the best boxing club around...

Banbury Boxing Club was founded in September 2012 by brothers Ben and Tom Malcher, Mark Cooper and Dave Green. The club is proudly affiliated with England Boxing and is a club for competitive and recreational boxers.

We are a ‘not for profit’ charitable club run by volunteers and supported by donations, grants and member subscriptions. The main aim of Banbury Boxing Club is to offer affordable boxing classes in a safe environment for competitive boxers to train and compete in the sport of amateur boxing who might one day represent the Home Counties, England or even Team GB!

In 2014 we achieved Sport England ClubMark Standard.

Banbury Boxing Club has been producing a steady flow of competitive boxers since 2012 – some have progressed to become Home Counties and National Champions!  In 2013 we registered the first two female boxers from Banbury to ever compete in an ABA/England Boxing sanctioned contest!

Before you (or your child) start…
Boxing is a tough sport and there are no shortcuts to success, ask yourself if you can commit to training at least twice a week on a Tuesday & Thursday? If not, our boxing squad is NOT for you. You would be classed as a recreational boxer’ and welcome to train on Mondays only.

Come along have a look during the week or join in on a Monday Beginners session to learn the basics, gain confidence and get fit one round at a time… We can assess your skills and progress you on to the Boxing Squad when ready.

You will not be expected to ‘spar’ as a beginner.

Call 07809 410692 if you have any questions…

BEGINNER & RECREATIONAL sessions are ‘pay as you go’. Pay cash on the night when you arrive before the lesson starts.

BOXING SQUAD IF you progress on to our Boxing Squad the following costs apply:

  • £10 per week – all ages pay £10 per week for 2+ training sessions, boxers are expected to attend Tues & Thurs. If you miss sessions it is still £10 per week! (Additional free training for Boxers – Fri and Sun)
  • £20 club membership fee – this will decrease to £15 and £10 depending on how far through the boxing season, renews annually in September

  • £20 Boxers Medical fee – All new and active ‘boxers’ have to undergo an annual medical to pass them ‘fit-to-box’ this can be done with your own GP or arranged through the club with a GMC registered doctor

What to bring:
All you need to bring to your first session is your training fee, a drink of water and some comfortable training clothes, we supply boxing gloves and skipping ropes to start with.

Before you begin training you will need to complete a quick form so our coaches are aware of any medical conditions and have an emergency contact. If you are under 17 a parent or guardian needs to give consent for you to participate and sign the form.
